Alchemia
Electric guitar and drums suggest a world of jazz or rock, cello and piano indicate a more classical context. Neither of these is the case when Ensemble of Nomads is on stage. The four young musicians, who have come together from four different parts of the globe, feel like nomads in life as well as in music. They feel at home roaming between specific styles and exploring the secrets and beauties of what lies in between. Their concerts consist of contemporary works composed specially for them and are also carefully staged shows with video, live electronics and lighting design which repeatedly cross the boundaries to music theatre.
For the Ruhrtriennale they have »composed« a panoptic evening from works by Lucia Kilger, Heinz Holliger, Alexey Nadzharov, Gary Berger, Sam Pluta, Kevin Juillerat and Emilio Guim, which challenges their performing as well as their instrumental skills.
