TEENS IN THE HOUSE – the youth group of the Ruhrtriennale – is queer, inclusive and in solidary. The members have very different family histories and are committed to diversity. For the third time, youths and young adults will reside at the festival for a week in 2023 with self-built One Sqm Houses. Inspired by productions and installations of the festival, they discuss their social ideas, attitudes, attitudes, demands and develop artistic forms of expression under professional guidance in order to share their perspectives with the adult audience of the Ruhrtriennale. After dealing with violence against women, adultism and queer-feminist utopias for living together in previous years, they are now questioning masculinity(ies) – following on from the Chilean production La posibilidad de la Ternura / Die Möglichkeit von Zärtlichkeit.

Visitors to the Ruhrtriennale will experience the presentation of the TEENS after the second performance of La posibilidad de la Ternura / Die Möglichkeit von Zärtlichkeit directly in front of the Salzlager at Zollverein in Essen. It is also possible to come to the presentation only.

Prefer to participate instead of watching? Young people and young adults aged 16 and over can apply to take part in the residency directly at the Junge Triennale. New participants are wanted and welcome. The residency will take place from 9 to 15 September 2023 in Essen, Bochum and Duisburg.
