As part of Asad Raza’s project Absorption, a new earth is created from clay, sand, compost and other ingredients by means of continuous processing through so-called cultivators. This process is accompanied by Gerd Wessolek, former professor for soil protection at University of Technology, Berlin. The conversation with Britta Peters on 9 September, artistic director of Urbane Künste Ruhr, focuses not only on the process-like dynamics and energy cycles of Absorption, but also on the special connection to the history of the Ruhr region and the venue in Essen’s city centre.
