"Style is violence, and I am not violent": This sentence by the painter Gerhard Richter speaks from the soul of Patricia Alessandrini. The composer is not interested in style-forming characteristics: instead, she analyses background noise, overtones and expressivity of works from the past and develops her own compositions from them. At the Ruhrtriennale, the Ensemble Modern will juxtapose modern "classics" with Patricia Alessandrini's sound responses in the unique atmosphere of the former salt warehouse of the Zollverein coking plant. Included in this programme: Excerpts from concerts with Peter Brötzmann and his fellow musicians as well as the Bochumer Symphoniker.
